As many of you visiting this site may have guessed, the title is a take off from J.R.R. Tolkien. For those of you who are not Tolkien fans, let me apologize in advance.
“There and Back Again,” is the title that Bilbo provided in his memoirs that were later handed down to Frodo. After the War of the Ring, Frodo appended the title to include “and What Happened After…” it was a rather long-winded addition that also inlcuded a subtitle if memory serves, but I have truncated it for my purposes here. At any rate, these two hobbits created a written record of events as seen from their perspectives, and that is, more or less, the same goal that I have in starting this site with the included blog.
I’m sure that I won’t post something every day but I will try to post frequently. Hopefully the content will be meaningful and have some worthy insight, but I’m sure there will be days with pointless meandering like a long leisurely walk through the Shire – yes, that’s a reference to the hobbit as well unless you happen to live in England or Australia where a shire is approximately the equivalent of a county here in the US. Coincidentally, this is also the origin of the root for Sheriff. The “shire reeve” was an appointed royal official who ran the county or shire. So much for today’s leisurely walk!
Remember, tea is promptly served late in our house. Thanks for stopping by and…”Good morning!”
